We are proud to announce the products and technologies nominated in the 2012 Most Innovative Product Award program. Each nominee offers a method that increases jobsite and plant productivity, improves employee safety, or enhances quality. This year we are presenting 64 nominees in 9 product categories. Awards for Industry Choice will be given to one product in each category based on the total vote from online and World of Concrete Attendee balloting. Nominees will be reviewed for the Experts Choice Award, by a panel of industry experts, many of whom serve on the World of Concrete Educational Advisory Board. And the editors of CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, MASONRY CONSTRUCTION and THE CONCRETE PRODUCER will review the nominations for the Editor’s Choice Award.

Description: The Cyclone model CY-61 is a low to high production, continuous-feed material placement unit for dry-mix gunite. It features a premium-life feed system, molded discharge liner and exhaust suppression chamber. All units are supplied with air line regulating valves, choice of low, medium or high production feed system and short premix hopper assembly. Traditionally these units had been used for commercial construction projects, including swimming pools, and concrete resurfacing. But concrete contractors are increasingly using the Cyclone-Cy-61 on bridge repair projects. Across the country, many state departments of transportation officials have recognized the effectiveness of uses gunite as an effective repair and new construction technique. Description: Spectra Precision’s UL633 Universal Laser combines many lasers functions into one unit. The unit provides grade in three axes allows contractors to control a multitude of applications – single grade, dual grade, horizontal, vertical, pipe laying and 90 degree layout - with one tool instead of multiple tools. For common field work, the laser can provide a 25% grade range in the X and Y axes for single and dual slope work. The UL633 is the first laser in which the plumb beam can be changed into a rotating fan beam. Using the SpotFinder, a new field accessory, the UL633 can automatically align the beam for pipe laying applications. Using the UL633 and SpotFinder, users can conduct exterior 90° layout applications on concrete pads, as well as other interior layout applications. Jobsites where high precision work is required, concrete screeding for example, can be accomplished with assured accuracy using the automatic Dual Axis PlaneLok feature which locks the laser reference plane to existing elevation points, and maintains the beam on these points. This eliminates all drift or possibility of error caused by vibrations or other environmental factors. The HL750 receiver is included with the universal laser. Description: Wallscanner D-tect 150 uses Bosch’s patented ultra-wide band radar technology to accurately detect material depth, center line and relative width of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, non-metal objects and live A/C wiring located in walls and floors. This technology allows contractors to detect rebar in up to 6-in. of cured concrete. The D-tect150 wall/floor scanner has seven different detection modes: concrete, deep concrete, wet concrete, in-floor heating, drywall, metal and signal view. The illuminated backlit LCD displays the detection depth, material type and the center and edges of an object, helping users mark the relative width of the targeted object. Its signal view mode helps distinguish different material through the height of the curve.
