How do you define a great floor? How does the owner define it? The engineer? And how are a great floor’s attributes measured? Does the testing company know how to measure to show its true quality?
These and many other questions will be addressed at the Quality in Slabs Luncheon & Forum. We will focus on defining quality in slabs and floors beyond just flatness and levelness and how that quality can be measured, achieved, and recognized. Discussions will focus on flatness, levelness, surface durability, joint durability, moisture content, and owner satisfaction.
Key contractors and slabs consultants from across North America will present their viewpoints on what defines a good slab and how to accomplish it, from mix design to finishing to curing to what happens after construction. This discussion will be based on our state-of-the-art knowledge and is expected to lead to a major new awards program to recognize the best slabs and floors placed each year. Following these presentations, editors will host a roundtable discussion on what contractors can do to achieve a good slab and control their projects. Speakers and participants are expected to include Terry Fricks (Fricks Floors), Jerry Holland (Structural Services Inc.), and David Fudala (AllFlat Floor Consultants).
