CONCRETE FUNDAMENTALS
For the “just getting started” concrete professional who wants a solid foundation of knowledge to build on, or for an “old timer” who wants a refresher or update on new knowledge and technology, the fundamental classes are right on track! The updated Concrete Basics series contains FOUR focused seminars intended to introduce the basics of good concrete practice to individuals new to the concrete industry. Also offered is a two-part Surveying Basics series with one seminar dedicated to using digital total stations and the second seminar addressing automatic and digital levels with supplemental hands-on training opportunities including a NEW hands-on training for experienced surveyors (Surveying Practical Using Total Stations).

CONCRETE PRODUCTION
With a more environmentally aware society, we must be up-to-date with the methods and techniques regarding the production end of our industry. Concrete Mix Design is a popular two-part series in this track and partners well with NEW topics covering the effective use of chemical admixtures and investigating low concrete compressive strengths.

CONCRETE REPAIR
It’s a given — concrete will crack, curl and shrink — repairs are a part of every concrete structure! Cracks are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to repairing existing concrete structures. The NEW two-part Concrete Repair Fundamentals Series covers surface preparation, reinforcement repair, material selection, placement, waterproofing and corrosion protection. For our more advanced attendees, NEW to WOC 2013, check out the 3-hour Advanced Structural Repair: Strengthening Solutions and the 90-minute Advanced Repair Techniques: Evaluation, Repair Strategies and Design.

DECORATIVE CONCRETE
Decorative Concrete application is a continually growing field with endless possibilities for creating and designing with concrete. Contractors specializing in decorative applications will learn from some of the most experienced and creative minds in the industry presenting information on color, stamps, acid-staining and countertops, giving the decorative professional a tool box full of ideas to help build and maintain a strong decorative business. NEW for 2013: Acid-staining Problems; Integrally Colored Concrete; Polished Overlay Systems; Decorative Stains, Overlays and Sealers; and Understanding, Selecting and Troubleshooting Sealers and Coatings.

FLOORS & SLABS
Most consumers have no idea how many factors go into pouring a concrete foundation—but those same people would complain if their floor wasn’t flat, or if it curled up at the corners, or if the height was disproportionate to other parts of the structure. This track offers two NEW seminars on moisture problems and one on the proper use of slab reinforcement systems. Other topics focus on shrinkage and polishing retail and industrial slabs. Flatwork technicians will also want to check out the placing/finishing hands-on training event plus the ACI flatwork certification opportunities.

MASONRY
The Masonry track is part of the World of Masonry show within World of Concrete that focuses on new technologies and old standards that make up the mortar, brick and stone industry. Masonry Contractors will benefit from sessions addressing repair and restoration, building reinforced masonry plus troubleshooting cracks and leaky walls. All sessions in this track are approved towards the MCAA National Masonry Certification program. In WOC hands-on training events, check out how to lay out and build a concrete block wall under the supervision of professional masons. Also focusing on masonry is 90-minute seminar How to Properly Design and Install Trouble-Free Stucco (Technical Updates track).

RESIDENTIAL CONCRETE
The Residential Concrete track was developed due to growth in the use of concrete in building homes. Topics include: Insulating Concrete Forms, Waterproofing Product Types and Systems, and Building Resilient Concrete Homes. Residential contractors should also check out the many 90-minute seminars that focus on important topics to help grow a concrete/masonry construction business.
