Fibers on Metal Deck
Jan 01, 2014 - Las Vegas, NV
One of the most cost-effective uses of synthetic macro fibers is as a replacement for the temperature/shrinkage steel reinforcement in slab on composite metal deck applications. Fibers that are simply added to the concrete as a mix ingredient eliminate the need for steel hoisting and placement labor on upper-deck projects, while eliminating a reinforcement tripping hazard. Synthetic macro fibers are now approved as a temperature steel replacement by the Steel Deck Institute’s “C-2011 Standard for Composite Steel Floor Deck-Slabs”, and FORTA® has performed fire-rating testing as well for UL® fire-rated assemblies. Contractors can access additional specification compliance information and job references at the new FORTA® exhibit location in the Central Hall # 4235.
FORTA Corporation, the synthetic fiber reinforcement pioneer in 1978, has developed an entire family of fibers to offer a variety of concrete crack-controlling performance. The newest fiber technology is FORTA FERRO® - a long-length, high-strength, high-dosage macro fiber to allow for a higher replacement level of conventional temperature/shrinkage steel reinforcement. FORTA leads the market in technical and engineering project assistance, and offers a long history of project applications and successes.
