Bosch Power Tools Makes Dust Mitigation Simple, Powerful With Integrated Dust Collection Systems For Concrete Tools
Bosch Power Tools is positioning itself as an industry leader in products for the concrete industry by paying attention to what workers and managers in that industry want out of their tools.
"What guys are looking for hasn't changed radically, but how manufacturers are trying to deliver what users want or need can vary," said Bosch's Mitch Burdick. "Even little differences can mean a lot."
Bosch's efforts in dust collection and mitigation are a good example; the dangers of silica dust have been broadly understood in the industry and at the ground level workers and inspectors have become more interested in ways to mitigate that dust. Bosch has responded with a comprehensive line of tools and dust collection guards - all of which can be matched with one of Bosch's dust extractors.
"It's all one system, so each piece has been designed to fit together, unlike when users mix and match multiple brands of products and create their own systems," said Mike Oppor, Bosch Product Manager. "For every tool that operates in concrete, masonry, or any type of material that's kicking up silica dust, we make sure we've got a guard, shroud, nozzle or other device that can collect that dust."
The dust collection devices then integrate seamlessly with Bosch’s line of dust extractors, differentiating themselves from standard "shop vacs" with better static water lift, higher CFMs, improved filter cleaning systems, and power tool activation. With national movement to increase safety standards for silica dust in the workplace, Bosch continues to be an industry leader in dust extraction with innovative products that make collection dust more efficient.
"Silica particles range in size," said Oppor. "Anything below 10 microns is considered a 'respirable dust,' and that's dangerous stuff. Our filters capture down to 3 microns, taking away a significant amount of dust without sacrificing power."
Bosch is focusing on creating solutions that work for the tool's users, making dust mitigation as easy as possible. "We're always thinking of new ideas and new applications," said Oppor, "to try to make our tools and solutions fit as many people's needs as we can."
Whether it is dust collection, vibration reduction, or other technologies Bosch employs in its concrete tools, the goal is to make the contractor’s life on the jobsite easier -- and the benefits are seen wherever Bosch tools are used.
"A cleaner, more comfortable environment attracts better workers," said Burdick. "And that's better for everyone."
