This seminar will present issues that typically arise during and after concrete placement. First, fresh concrete issues such as controlling air content, yield and delays will be discussed. Next, hardened concrete issues such as strength testing, shrinkage and thermal problems will be addressed. Finally, a review of the essentials of curing will be presented.

  1. Describe common issues that cause problems in controlling air content
  2. Present a plan for addressing issues concerning low strength results
  3. Discuss shrinkage cracking resulting from either thermal or drying issues
  4. Review the basic methods and importance of curing
