To help promote safer work sites when using scaffolds and access equipment, members of the Scaffolding & Access Industry Association will host the Safety Boot Camp. This interactive display is designed to help increase safety awareness for industry professionals. This is an excellent opportunity to refresh your knowledge of current OSHA rules.

Attendees will have an opportunity to perform a visual inspection of up to six types of scaffolding and access systems commonly used in masonry construction. These inspections are designed to simulate the type of pre-work inspections that occur on actual job sites.

Prior to the walk-through, participants can meet with a scaffold safety professional to ask preliminary questions about the type of equipment they will inspect. Each contestant will be given a checklist on each system they will inspect.

After their review, participants accompanied by their SAIA mentor will then walk through the display on the look for the common installation mistakes that are routinely cited by OSHA inspectors.

The participant’s mentor will review the checklist/report throughout the walk-through at the various stations. After each “inspection,” the mentor will review the attendee’s report and explain what the violation is and to help provide a way to solve the error.

Before leaving the area, participants will be given a document with images showing the violation side by side with an image of its proper setting.

No preregistration is required.
